Windows Vista Complaint #1

March 3rd, 2007

What’s the point of having a RSS feed gadget for the side bar if you can’t control which feeds show up in your gadget sidebar? The options?

  • Microsoft Feeds
  • Microsoft Feeds/Microsoft at Home
  • Microsoft Feeds/Microsoft at Work
  • Microsoft Feeds/MCNBC Feeds

This bugs me for a couple of reasons. First for those of us who would use this gadget it limits us to a set of feeds we probably wouldn’t read anyway. Second, for the uninformed average user it completely masks the power of using RSS. Great job on this one guys.

You know Vista is bad when you have to remove it and install XP to get your programs to run…everyone I’ve talked to who’s gotten a new PC in the last month has removed Vista due to the inability to play certain games, or run certain applications. Sad.

I was ranting to a friend of mine about this today! There is a way to change the feeds but it involves bookmarking the feed in IE7 first and then selecting it from the gadget’s options. Waste of time!

    Vista !@#$%^&*(
I can get use to all the problems of finding driver and setting up odf accounts and making older programs function.
I can’t abide the darn thing going off to various Microsoft or Security sites on its own when I’m just tring to check my email (limited time on a slow but cheap telephone link). I dropped the Norton security stuff because the last time I installed it , it took 6 hours and keep re-opening on its own when I had told it not to check for update. I don’t want an operating system that constantly looks for updates.

What I don’t really like is the fact that there is no shutdown button. I had to search the menus to find it when I wanted to shut the computer off.

And to think I could have bought the same computer with XP for $50 less!

i have a new laptop with vista, i live in the country and have dial up
and surfing the net is a real pain, vista has so much stuff running in
the background it really slowes down the machine. i called gateway about sending the machine back and having xp put on it, but they
won’t do it, if i do it myself it will void my warrenty. computing
    just got less fun.

Vista? As in Hasta la Vista? See you later? Ha! We just bought a Toshiba Satellite yesterday (3/14). It came with Vista–can’t seem to get a Toshiba without it (at least according to Toshiba’s website). My husband spent 4 hours on the phone after he came home from work and the laptop STILL will not recognize our wireless router. We can connect to the internet using an ethernet cable, however. Frankly, that’s not what we envisioned when we decided to get a laptop. Working with our DSL supplier only hosed up our home network–now our two PCs won’t talk to each other and the Satellite won’t talk to anyone without a cord attached.

    Arrrrrgh!

I’m hoping he can take the Toshiba back to the store and get something without Vista.

    Three words : DRM
Vista is full of it. Your CPU is crunching it. Your programs are trying to fit in between cycles. And it is badly written as a bit of icing. Oh yea, and don’t try to watch a legally bought HD or Blue Ray movie or you’ll get degraded performance. M$ rocks!

I too am removing Vista and installing XP…Vista is another MS disaster, kind of like the Win ME debacle of years ago…I guess with all their billions MS never feels SHAME! What an absolute disaster!

Vista is the worst piece of bull**** that i’ve ever invested time and money into. Windows needs to get it straight that even thought it is their system, it is my damn computer, and i don’t want a ****ing nanny windows telling me what i can and can’t do on my own hard earned hardware. Besides it’s frozen up on me loads of time and have problems with even the simplest of games. To top it off i and thousands others can’t get our mic’s to work when combining vista with x-fi sound cards. I think it’s time for windows to learn the true meaning of an UPgrade.

I dont’ know jack about computers. But at times, my icons were mixed up, it would say for example- aim but with a firefox icon and then soon my control panel would disappear. Now it won’t even work, I turn in on and it pretty much doesn’t do anything. What the hell am I suppose to do with my 7 month old pc?

I’m very dissapointed. Today I can’t even get access to my Pc because
It does not recognize my access code. I can not save any audio.
and my the retailer website for Dish Network, for whom I work does not
    work with Vista. Great!!!

I have a desk top that my husband and son got me for Christmas it has vista windows on it and i have to say that i have no compliants on it… i also now have a lap top with vista windows.. i did my researches on vista before i even wanted it.. but now that i have it i really do like it.. i do alot of work on computers. and i do have to say that this is differnt…it is easy to find files on that is what i like about it even though as much as i know about computers i did go to amazon.com and got a book for dummies for vista windows it really helps alot.. and it never seems to amaze me that every time a new windows comes out people complain..

I am so angry with Microsoft for this junk. I bought a top of the line HP Media PC with 4 GB of memory. HP recommended 4 GB even though Vista 32 bit only sees 3 GB. HP gets an extra $170 for the upgrade. Dell is doing the same scam.

I reboot my PC at least twice a day. I can only open so many tabs in IE or new windows. It appears to be a memory leak. I have done every update with Microsoft.

I want XP back, but I already registered all my new software on the Vista software. I want a clean upgrade to XP and never see Vista again.

I have good friends in Redmond at Microsoft and while they still tow the party line at the Kremlin offices, they give in on Vista being garbage.

Sell your stock in Microsoft, HP and Dell.
