Google Buying YouTube?

There are a lot of rumors circulating this weekend that Google is in talks to buy YouTube for an estimated $1.6 billion. It’s still earlier and the talks still could break off, but the The Wall Street Journal’s recent report has given some validity to the rumors. Founded in February 2005 by three former eBay employees YouTube serves more than 100 million videos daily.
I’m not sure whether it makes sense for Google to acquire YouTube given that Google has developed it’s own video service. It could mean a lot to YouTube if you look at what happened to del.icio.us when Yahoo acquired the bookmarking service last year. More information on the subject available at
