Jerry McGuire Guide to Digital Sales

At the beginning of ‘Jerry McGuire’ the title character Jerry can best be characterized as a shark who roams the sidelines looking for ways to ‘transforms’ his clients from athletes into million dollar endorsements. For Jerry everything is about the numbers, everything is a commodity including his clients, until a late night exchange with one of his client’s son causes Jerry to come to a realization. Although he had gained the life he always wanted, in the day to day pursuit of material weath, he had forgotten why he does what he does. He has disconnected from his inner passions. After writing a mission statement that champions a more humanistic approach to business Jerry is fired from SMI (Sports Management International) and he is forced to start living by the rules he had written in his mission statement.
There are lots of options available to us today when it comes to marketing products and services, but how do you combine real world traditional wisdom with new media techniques and tools? This presentation was inspired by that question and Jerry McGuire’s journey from “Show Me The Money” to “Ambassador of Kwan”. This journey parallels the transition we should be making from just being marketers or sales people to truly embracing the relationship we build with clients and the digital tools that are available to help make this process easier.
