The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations

Nancy DuarteISBN: 978-0596522346Design

Most people will have to create a slide deck  at some point in their career. Odds are that when this happens they will start by opening Powerpoint and putting lots of bullets on the page.  This approach makes your slide deck more of a crutch than an aid to communicating your message. If this is a problem then how do you use Powerpoint  to create a visual story for the people watching your presentation? Written by Nancy Duarte, President and CEO of Duarte Design slide:ology seeks to teach the visual presentation process, from concept to delivery. The things I really like about this book are its focus on planning and storytelling.

My Take On The Book

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to increase their presentation creation skill because  it covers valuable planning, layout, typography and framing the story.  This book won’t make you a better speaker, but if you follow some of the principles outlined it will make your slide deck a more effective part of your speech or training material.
