About two years ago my good friend Erica O’Grady called me while she was sitting on the floor at the bookstore and said “Kelsey you have to read a book I found“. Now, those of us who know Erica knows that when something really excites her it’s difficult to contain her passion for it. Now I am not quoting her exactly but the conversation went something like this: “KELSEY, oh my God you are going to love this book. The pictures are awesome but the content is even better. I almost read the whole thing right here!” I knew I had to get the book.

What was the book? The book Erica introduced me to was titled “Change The Way You See Yourself” and that books and it’s exercises have had an impact on a lot of things I do. This summary is about the follow-up book “Change The Way You See Everything”. The book focuses on helping you change how you see yourself, other people and the world around you. While your gut is to think that the book is about pollyanna quotes and affirmations, it is far more than that. The stories are inspiring and the authors did an excellent job including stories that really reinforce the step-by-step actions you take throughout the book.

My Thoughts On The Book

This book has really been impactful to me, helping reinforce things that we should all be aware of but often don’t spend enough time thinking about. The book’s central idea Asset-Based Thinking is all about having a success orientation instead of a failure orientation. Asset-Based Thinking thought me some really practical techniques to eliminate my natural tendency to seek “perfection” and instead to look for ways to see continuous growth and progress.
